1. Acetaminophen (Tylenol, Panadol, acetylaminophenol)
This white, somewhat-water-soluble chemical is most widely known as an over-the-counter painkiller (analgesic) and fever reducer, but it is also used to make azo dyes and photographic chemicals. Acetaminophen melts at 168 C. and can cause liver damage in high overdoses.
