1. Cauda equina syndrome
Cauda equina syndrome results from the compression of many lumbosacral nerve roots in the cauda equina (caudal to L2-3 level, below the conus medullaris). Clinical presentation includes intense leg pain, numbness and weakness or paralysis of legs, buttocks or genitalia. Bowel and urinary dysfunction may be present.
