1. Docking protein (DP)
A protein attached to the membrane of the rough endoplasmic reticulum which helps ferry other proteins that are destined to be secreted out of the cell into the rough endoplasmic reticulum . It does this by binding with an SRP ("signal-recognition particle": a protein- RNA complex) that has previously attached itself to the lead end of the protein while the protein is still being synthesized.
