1. Gravel
* Substrate particles between 2 and 64 mm (0.08 and 2.5 inches) in diameter. * Detrius larger than sand and smaller than cobble, arbitrarily ranging in diameter from 0.2 to 2 inches.

2. Gravel permeability
The ease with which water can pass through gravel, the higher the permeability the greater the supply of oxygenated water in the gravel that can reach incubating eggs of aquatic animals such as fish.
