1. Histone proteins
A class of protein molecules found in chromosome s responsible for compacting DNA enough so that it will fit within a nucleus . Prokaryotes do not have histones. However, the DNA of the genus Thermoplasma (a cell-wall-less member of the domain Archaea ) is surrounded by a highly basic DNA-binding protein which strongly resembles the eukaryotic histones.

2. Histone proteins
Proteins associated with DNA in eukaryote chromosomes .
