1. Intraventricular hemorrhage (IVH)
Intraventricular hemorrhage is bleeding in the ventricles of the brain, most often seen in infants born after less than 31 weeks of gestation. The most common site (over 60% of the time) is the subependymal germinal matrix, which is a primitive cellular region located ventrolateral to the lateral ventricle at the level of the foramen of Monro. Diagnosis is confirmed by real-time ultrasound .
