1. Restriction fragment
A section of double-stranded DNA which is produced by the action of a restriction endonuclease on the parent DNA.

2. Restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP)
Variation between individuals in DNA fragment sizes cut by specific restriction enzyme s; polymorphic sequence s that result in RFLPs are used as marker s on both physical map s and genetic linkage map s. RFLPs are usually caused by mutation at a cutting site. See marker .

3. Restriction fragment length polymorphism (RFLP)
A heritable difference in DNA fragment length and fragment number; passed from generation to generation in a codominant way.
