1. Sense strand (coding strand, template strand)
The strand of DNA which is used during transcription to make mRNA . The mRNA made thus has the sequence of the antisense strand of DNA, and it codes for a sense strand of polypeptide (which eventually becomes a protein or part of a protein) during translation .
