Arkansas Post, Arkansas is an unincorporated community located along the Arkansas River in Arkansas County, Arkansas, United States.1 The community is located at the end of Arkansas Highway 169.2
The history of settlement dates to 1686, when Henri de Tonti, a French soldier and explorer associated with René Robert Cavelier, Sieur de la Salle's explorations of the Mississippi River, established a fur trading post at this location to promote trade with the Native Americans.3
Arkansas Post was the first territorial capital (1819–1821) of Arkansas Territory.
